Friday Favorites #43
Hey, hey! How are you? Did you have a good week? Mine began with my van not starting but thankfully all it needed was a battery charge! Also, winter decided to make a big comeback which isn’t too surprising considering it is still March in Michigan. I came across this meme and it’s so accurate. We’re definitely in 3rd winter up here!
The boys tried to catch a leprechaun the night before St. Patrick’s Day but no luck! This was the first year Lucas made his trap all on his own (forgot to take a pic of it though!). I don’t know how many years left he will want to make one which makes me sad. It’s been our little tradition since he was in preschool. Even though the boys didn’t trap Lucky the Leprechaun, he left them each a golden dollar! Lucky must have been out of his golden coins;)
Today kicked off the boys’ spring break! While I wish we were headed someplace warm, I am at least looking forward to a change of scenery and break from routine. We’re off to Ohio to celebrate Easter with family and see some friends which will be so nice. I’ll hopefully catch you up on all the fun we have next week but until then keep on scrolling for this week’s round up of Friday Favorites!
Bedtime Story Night
Our school does an awesome job of celebrating National Reading Month. One big highlight is Bedtime Story Night. The kids get to wear their pajamas, engage in interactive story time with their teachers, enjoy milk and cookies, and shop the book fair. It’s a fun night celebrating the joy of reading!
I let each boy pick one book from the book fair along with one for them to share. They chose Return of the Underwear Dragon which I didn’t realize was a sequel to Attack of the Underwear Dragon. I guess we’ll have to check that one out too! I think it’s pretty cool how the school runs their book fair through a local bookshop, Brilliant Books. It’s set up just like a Scholastic book fair but supports a local small business which I love!
Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
I wasn’t sure about this one at first (took me a few chapters to get into) but am absolutely loving it now! Divine Rivals is considered a fantasy, but this doesn’t read like typical fantasies I have read in the past. So, if you are unsure about trying that genre, Divine Rivals would be a good one to start with! It’s not overly done with magic and mythical creatures. Think a “You’ve Got Mail” love story set in wartime between two gods. I am looking forward to finishing and reading book two of the series!
Fresh Hair
I by no means have bragworthy hair. It’s fine, thin and leaves a lot to be desired. However, we win some and lose some when it comes to genetics haha. In my book, hair day is always a win! It’s soooo nice to have a couple hours of quiet relaxation. My roots and grays covered with fresh bronde highlights along with a good trim definitely is a favorite thing this week!
World Down Syndrome Day
I published a whole post about Down syndrome and our WDSD yesterday. It’s such a wonderful day for our family to celebrate what makes Drew so special.
Easter Bunny Visit
I don’t think I have ever taken my boys to see the Easter bunny! I am not sure why. Actually, I am… because he is kind of creepy in my opinion haha! It just has never been a tradition in our family. This week, I received a text from Once Upon a Child for free visits, so I figured, why not? I took Owen on Thursday, and he was pretty adorable greeting the Easter bunny and smiling for the picture. Doing all I can to keep this one little!!
So many fun things this week! Fresh hair is the best π canβt wait to see you this coming week!!! We can turn Toledo into the beach ποΈ π€£
