Friday Favorites #1

Each week I will post a list of what I have been loving the past week!

The Nightingale by Kirstin Hannah

This is my 3rd book of 2023 and it may be my favorite this year! Historical fiction will always be my go-to genre, and this book definitely delivers. It is heartfelt, well researched, and the detailed, descriptive writing truly brings the characters and setting to life. I am not quite finished, but I know this will be a book that stays with me. I hope the movie happens and I look forward to reading some of her other books now!

Warm-ish, Sunny Weather in February!

The weather on Wednesday was a treat! Blue skies and sunny all day, the highest temperature reached 46 degrees. We took advantage by taking a family hike along the Boardman River. We began our hike at the Grand Traverse Natural Education Preserve. Grandpa arrived in town yesterday, so he joined along which the boys LOVED.

Date Night at the Red Ginger

Ryan and I celebrated Valentine’s Day a little early with our first dining experience at the Red Ginger in downtown Traverse City. It offered a cozy romantic setting, delicious wine, excellent service, and the food was amazing. I went with the Mandarin Chicken which did not disappoint. It was the perfect date night restaurant but would also be fabulous for girls’ night–sushi and cocktails!

Side Note: Ryan proposed on Valentine’s Day 13 years ago!

Visits from Grandparents

These past couple weeks have been full of quality time with grandparents. My parents came last week and Ryan’s dad arrived in town yesterday. One of the biggest things holding us back from making the big move up north was giving up the proximity to grandparents. We are beyond blessed to have parents that are willing to travel and spend days with us at a time up here. Our boys have such special bonds with them, and we do not take that for granted.

Thrifting!

When my mom was here, we spent a lot of time checking out the thrift stores in the area. My mom and I love a good thrift store and found some great finds! I think our favorites are the Samaritans’ Closet in Leelanau and the Roost Consignment Boutique in Sutton’s Bay. Both have quality items for reasonable prices. I may show some of my thrift hauls on future blog posts!

My son Andrew loves Woody, so had to post;)
