Friday Favorites #31
Hi there! How are you? I am a little late to post because I was at the school all morning for Jog-a-thon! Keep scrolling to read more about that since it’s one of my favorites this week:)
We have a completely open weekend so shall see where it takes us. I am hoping something Halloween related! We do have some adulting to do like winterizing the camper. I can’t believe this is the last weekend of October. It went by in a blink. It seems like every month does!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today and enjoy your weekend!
Geocaching
In my last blog post, I mentioned geocaching as a new family hobby of ours. A few weeks ago, we stumbled upon one on accident and the boys thought it was coolest thing. Ryan’s been doing it with them for a few weeks now and I finally got involved on our hike last Sunday. I will say it is pretty fun! All you have to do is download the app (which is free, although you can pay for premium) and put in your location. It shows you the location of all the caches nearby and then it becomes like a treasure hunt! This week the boys took the initiative to make one of their own from a Tupperware container and they took turns hiding it around the house. They even put in a paper for the log and little items from their treasure boxes. It was pretty cute.
Parent Teacher Conferences
I can’t believe we are almost to the end of October! That means the boys have been in school for almost two months now and it is time to meet with their teachers. Drew is having a great year and we actually met with his teacher already earlier this month. We had great reports from both Lucas and Owen’s teachers, so mom and dad left pretty proud. It’s always encouraging to hear they are doing well and being kind and helpful toward others. Keep up the good work boys!!
Apple Picking at Rennie Orchard
I have been wanting to check out this apple orchard for a while now. Owen and I took an opportunity with a break in the rain on Tuesday afternoon. It was a bit of a drive but out towards the boys’ school, so the plan was to pick up brothers right after. This orchard is much smaller than the popular Jacob’s Farm and Friske apple orchards. However, Owen had a really great time! He loved looking at all the Halloween decorations. There was also a little hay maze he went through a few times and some playhouses. What I especially liked was how the low the apple trees were. Owen could easily pick apples all on his own without me having to lift him. Tasty apples, too! We’ll be back!
Midweek Breakfast Date
Ryan and I don’t get many nights out so if we can squeeze in a weekday breakfast or lunch date, we do! On Wednesday, we decided to meet at one of our favorite places, The Original Flap Jack Shack. It has a cool 70s vibe atmosphere with pretty views. Ryan and I typically order their skillets which are very tasty. The online reviews of this place aren’t the greatest, but we’ve always enjoyed a delicious meal with good service.
Thrifted Merrell Vest
I LOVE to thrift. A few weeks ago, I went to a few of my favorite stores while the boys watched football at home. One of those is The Roost Consignment Boutique in Suttons Bay. I tried on a few things and ending up leaving with this Merrell vest for under $30! I’ve worn it every day this week. It’s perfect for fall and I especially love the hood. Gotta love a good thrift find!
Jog-A-Thon!
The boys had their Jog-a-thon at school this morning! This is a fundraising event for PTO. They run around the track as many times as they can for about a 15-minute period of time. There is a DJ playing dance music and the school mascots are there cheering them on. Owen didn’t change into his tennis shoes for whatever reason, but he ran four laps! Lucas claimed he ran ten, but I am not so sure haha. That boy did run his little heart out though! Drew did great too! I think it’s the most I’ve ever seen him run. He would say “Mommy” and wave every time he passed me. So glad I could go and cheer them on!
my favorite post to read every week! love it all!!
thank you Haley!!!
Me too, Haley! I feel like I’m still involved even though I’m not there!
