Friday Favorites #40

Annie February 16, 2024 Comments1

Happy Friday! The boys have a “Glow Dance” at school this evening which they are pretty pumped about. Grandpa is here to join us, too! I am having a girl’s weekend with some local moms who all have amazing kiddos that rock the extra chromosome. I think Ryan and Grandpa are going to take the boys to the Yeti Fest. Lots of fun to be had for all!

I hope you have a great weekend as well and keep scrolling for this week’s roundup of favorite things. Thank you for stopping the blog today!

Valentine’s Day

We love ourselves a midweek holiday! Last Friday, I shared the boys’ valentines as a Friday favorite, and they were very excited to bring them to school to pass out to all their friends. I forgot to buy candy to go with them and Lucas was a little upset. I swear every holiday now involves a ridiculous amount of candy! Why it can’t just be the cards like it was back in the day? lol!

After school, we had an hour before Ash Wednesday Mass, so grabbed a quick dinner at Chick-fil-A (surprise, surprise!). After Mass, we came home and the boys looked at all their goodies from school, opened some small gifts including one from Mim and Papa who joined us on Facetime.

Combined Birthday Party

On Saturday, we celebrated all three boys’ birthdays with friends. Like I said before, it was supposed to be a sledding party, but turned out to be a bowling party instead! First, we spent an hour in the party room eating pizza and hanging out. We sang “Happy Birthday” and ate cake with ice cream, too!

Then it was time to bowl! I didn’t know it would be glow-bowling so that was a fun surprise. All the kids seemed to have a blast and I think this is definitely something we will continue. It brings me a lot of joy to see the boys establish friendships up this way.

Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent

It has been a minute since I’ve read a psychological thriller, but I do love that genre. Strange Sally Diamond hooked me from the beginning. It is definitely twisted and disturbing so if that’s not your thing, I would stay away. This book has two settings (past and present) and usually I tend to favor one over the other. However, with this book, both storylines were compelling and hard to put down. The “past” part of the novel has the dark, thrilling suspense and the “present” follows the protagonist of the story, Sally Diamond. You can’t help but root for her the whole book. She even provides a little comic relief which is welcomed in what can be an uncomfortable read. So, I definitely recommend but don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Amazon Barrettes

I meant to have Ryan snap a picture of my hair on Valentine’s Day when I wore one of these barrettes. I am not a fan of wearing my hair down. It’s pretty fine, takes time to style, and I really just don’t like it in my face. I use claw clips a lot but have been trying to find ways to “style” it with little effort. These barrettes work great for that! Simple and pretty.

Grandpa’s Here!

Grandpa arrived yesterday afternoon and as always, we are happy to have him! The boys absolutely love his company. I think Ryan is especially glad to have him here this weekend while I’m gone! He brought soccer jerseys from his trip Italy for them. They wore them very proudly at school today!
