Friday Favorites #46

Annie April 26, 2024 Comments2

TGIF! The weeks just fly by, don’t they? I can’t believe this is the last weekend of April when April 1st was yesterday. This Friday is extra fun because we have grandpa in town! As for the weekend ahead, not too much going on besides a soccer game tomorrow along with a birthday party for Owen. It’s looking like much warmer temperatures but maybe rain so we shall see!

Keep on reading for some things that brought me a little joy this week. They are always fun to share so I hope you enjoy them! Have a wonderful weekend!

Grandpa’s Visit

Like I mentioned above, grandpa is in town! The boys absolutely love his company (Ryan and I too of course!). Grandpa is so helpful with things and a joy to be around. He made the boys a hot breakfast before school each day, helped Ryan assemble part of the deck, and drove the boys to school one day so I could get my summer tires back on the van. The boys laugh a lot more when he’s here, that’s for sure! We will be sad to see him leave tomorrow.

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

I discovered Abby Jimenez last year when I read Part of Your World. I don’t typically gravitate toward the corny, Hallmark reads but I do love her writing. It’s definitely romantic comedy, but she doesn’t go over the top with the cheese. In fact, she brings many real-life issues into her love stories like abuse, sickness, anxiety, divorce…I appreciate how she keeps things real and relatable to her readers.

While this one frustrated me to no end at times, I really loved it! Like I said above, you can relate to the main characters on a personal level and can’t help but root for them. While predictable, I flew through and didn’t see certain things coming which I always like. You don’t have to read Part of Your World first, but both are so good! Abby Jimenez will remain on my TBR radar for sure. I plan to read her latest, Just for the Summer this summer!

Kitchen Sink Basket

We have a big sink which I love but the scrubbers and things needed their own place. I found this adjustable basket on Amazon (got it on sale, yay!) that doubles as a colander. It’s one of those kitchen gadgets you don’t know you need but you do haha. I almost went for the pink (kinda regretting it) but got the white instead. It sits under our cutting board most of the time and keeps everything in place so when I need to wash dishes, I can just pull one thing out. It’s also very handy for washing fruits and veggies and straining pasta. An Amazon win for sure!

Fresh Gerber Daisies

I am a sucker for fresh flowers in the house, especially this time of year since I have to be patient to plant outside. I love me some Gerber daisies (they were my main wedding flower!) and couldn’t resist these cute little bouquets at Meijer this week. I got one for the kitchen and one for my bedroom. They are so cheerful and make me smile. A perfect example of finding joy in the small things:)

Pioneer Woman Cow Plate

This is random but definitely something that has made me smile this week. I have been taking down Easter decorations and refreshing a few spaces in the house. I always put some type of accent plate on top of my hutch and wanted something new and different for spring and summer. I love me some Pioneer Woman (cute and affordable) and just had to get this little plate. The red gingham is so cute and of course the cow is too. Have you heard of the “Unexpected Red Theory”? Apparently if you add a pop of red to a room, it automatically makes it look better. Not sure if this is true, but I don’t think you can go wrong with an adorable cow. Maybe I should start a new trend: “The Unexpected Cow Theory” haha!
