Friday Favorites #54

Annie February 14, 2025 Comments3

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s always tough to get back into routine after vacation but we did it and made it through the week. We had some snow but not enough to warrant a snow day, so the school week remained pretty typical. The boys were excited this morning for their Valentine’s Day celebrations at school! They also have a few goodies to open up later:)

We have no set plans for celebrating Valentine’s Day, so we’ll see what unfolds. Ryan and I did have a breakfast date this morning which was nice. Lucas has his last basketball game tomorrow. It’s a single elimination tournament so if they lose the first game they are out. Hopefully not, but either way I’ll be cheering my little guy on! The rest of the weekend remains pretty open. The Yeti Fest in Sutton’s Bay is happening tomorrow so I hope we can make it over. We also have some things around the house we would like to accomplish.

I hope you enjoy a fun and relaxing weekend! Keep on scrolling to read about a few of my favorite things this week:)

Disney High

If you read my last post, you know that our family recently returned from a magical week in Disney World. I focused more on what we did and things I would do differently but didn’t get much into the feeling Disney World gives you. I think that’s why the blues are so real! It’s an escape from reality and truly makes you feel like a kid again. From that first glimpse of the castle while walking down Main Street to seeing your child’s eyes light up when they meet their favorite character-that’s what Disney is all about. I’m not going to lie and say this vacation is a walk in the park but if does gives you all the feels that you can’t get anywhere else. So, I will be riding this Disney high as long as I can!!

Also, after publishing my Disney post, I reflected a little more this week on the things I would do differently. While most of them remain true, I do want to emphasize that we still made special memories even during those moments. Owen loved the erupting volcano at the San Angel Inn Restuarant. The Festival of Fantasy parade was still magical even in the hot sun. Holding my boys close while watching Tinker Bell fly across the night sky I won’t ever forget. So even though it may seem things could have been better, I hold precious the memories just as they are.

Tandem Reading Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas)

I have mentioned the Throne of Glass series on the blog before and recently decided to get back into it. Books 6 and 7 (Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn) are best read tandemly. I will say that I have never tandem read two books before! I screenshot a checklist of how to read them to keep track of chapters and have multiple bookmarks going. It’s actually kind of fun! This series is definitely a commitment, but I just love it. It’s so captivating and I am fully invested in all the story lines. Since it contains several books, you really grow attached to the characters and Maas does an excellent job of developing them and keeping you invested. It has all you would expect in a fantasy adventure series-courage, love, magic, adventure, war, alliances, unexpected twists…looking forward to finishing it this year!

Hanging Toiletry Bag

While unpacking this week, I thought I would share this hanging toiletry bag I purchased on Amazon before vacation. I was tired of digging through the toiletry bag I had. This one keeps things much more organized! I bought the medium but probably maybe should have gone with the large. You can hang it up or lay it flat and it keeps everything in one place. I also like how it has straps for holding bottles upright (I failed to demonstrate in the photo though oops). The blush color is cute too!

Valentine’s Day Prep

In the past I have been somewhat creative with the boys’ valentines but this year with vacation we went the store-bought route. Trolls for Drew, Ninja Turtles of Lucas, and Jurassic World for Owen. The boys enjoyed filling them out this week and I know they are thrilled to pass them out today at school. This is probably Drew’s last school Valentine’s Day party which hurts my heart a little. Gosh, I don’t know what I will do when Owen is in 5th grade, and we officially say goodbye to the elementary school years. Savoring them so much!!
