Friday & Weekend Favorites #52
Hi there! Did you have a good weekend? I started my normal Friday Favorites post last week and never got around to finishing it. I am going to combine with some weekend highlights too! Thanks for reading and have a wonderful week!
Friday Favorites
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell
This book is a wild ride, and I flew through it! If you enjoy psychological thrillers then definitely get your hands on this one. It’s disturbing and twisty and I have to say Lisa Jewell is a very creative writer. None of This is True is centered around two women, Josie and Alix, who happen to share the same birthday. Josie becomes captivated by Alix and her life and convinces her to host her on her podcast show. As Josie’s story unfolds and dark secrets are revealed, Alix begins to become increasingly unsettled with her presence. Don’t want to give too much away but like I said worth checking out if this genre is your thing!
Northern Lights x2!
I finally saw the Northern Lights this week…TWICE! I downloaded an app on my phone a while ago and got the alert they were visible. These views were from our dock looking north over Lake Leelanau. This was my first time seeing them and they did not disappoint. It felt like I was in a dome of color, just beautiful!
Lunch Date with Lucas
Over the weekend, Lucas got hit in the mouth with a soccer ball and a piece of his retainer broke off. I was able to get him into the orthodontist last Tuesday, but it happened to be right during his lunch time at school. So, I took him out and it was nice to have some one-on-one time in the middle of the school day. We ate at McDonalds and talked mostly about school and soccer. Lucas seems to bond more with Ryan (because of sports) so I am grateful for any alone time we can get!
Dainty Hoop Earrings from Amazon
I forgot to snap a picture of me wearing these, but I love them! I am a dainty jewelry girl, typically wear a lot of the same pieces daily. These are perfect everyday hoops and since they come in a set of three I kind of want to get a third piercing now;) I also got my first piece of permanent jewelry over the weekend. Obsessed!
DIY Lampshade Makeover
My beige lampshade against my beige blinds was in need of some personality. I googled how it easy it is to cover a lampshade with fabric and determined it was something I could handle. I found a cute 1/2 yard of fabric on Etsy that tied in lots of colors in my decor. Really loved how it turned out!
Weekend Favorites!
Keep scrolling for some highlights from our weekend! It was a fun, busy one!
Lucas is ROAR Model of the Week
On Friday afternoon, I received an email from the principal that Lucas earned ROAR Model of the Week! His teacher’s words really touched my heart: “Lucas is always willing to help others and encourages kindness and positivity among his peers. He is a kind friend who includes everyone to participate in activities.” It’s a true testament Lucas has a brother with Down syndrome, and I couldn’t be prouder of his kind heart.
Hop Lot
After soccer practice on Friday, we met up with a friend from high school and his wife at Hop Lot (which you probably know by now is one of our favorite places). I love what Hop Lot has to offer each season, and fall does not disappoint. There’s a chill in the air, gets dark a little earlier, fires roaring, and according to Ryan “lots of flannel” haha. T-rex got to enjoy it too;)
Boyne Soccer Tournament
Lucas’s travel soccer had a two-day soccer tournament in Boyne this weekend! We kind of dropped the ball on booking a room in time but the drive really wasn’t that bad. One of the games, Lucas scored a hat trick which he was very excited about! While we didn’t make it to the final championship, our team played incredibly tough and we’re so proud of them! I was hesitant to sign Lucas up for travel soccer, but after watching him play his heart out, bond with team, and make special memories, I have no regrets.
Witches Night Out
One perk of not getting a hotel room Saturday night in Boyne was that I could meet some of my dear friends in Elk Rapids for Witches Night Out! I always love an excuse to dress up and a festive girl’s night was just what I needed. We walked through the shops and along the bay. Our night ended with a lovely dinner at Cellar 152.
And just like that, Monday is here. Lucas and Owen have a half day, so I am going to take them to lunch and the library. Since learning about the hurricanes, Owen has become very interested in storms and wants to check some books out to learn more. After that, we’ll pick up Drew, get some haircuts, and head to Owen’s last soccer practice of the season!
Thank you for making my blog a part of your day and have a great day!
