Hello October
Hey hey! October is here! It’s one of my favorite months. Did you have a good weekend? I am popping in to give you a little recap of ours. They always go so quick!!
First to back track a little…if you follow me on Facebook you know of our whole mouse fiasco last week. After soccer practice last Friday, we saw another baby mouse in the van and failed in our attempt to catch him. Well, on Monday I started noticing a smell which progressively got worse as the week went on. I knew the mouse was dead somewhere in my van. After school on Friday, we were determined to find it. We all had flashlights looking in every crevice and I finally spotted it tucked behind the area where the gas pedal is. Lovely.
I am SO glad it is out of my van, and we can put that behind us now!! Gosh, the smell was just foul. The rest of our Friday evening was spent on the couch. The boys wanted to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas to kick off Halloween movie season. Ryan also made us smoothies. I didn’t take any pictures except for the sunset which was beautiful!!
Saturday
Saturday started bright and early with soccer. It was 39 degrees when I woke…brrrr! But the day warmed up rather quickly, so we didn’t have to bundle up too much. Lucas and Drew had their game first (a loss unfortunately) and Owen played a little later. His team won though! It was nice we didn’t have to divide and conquer this weekend.
After soccer we came home, and I put the house back together after the tornado of our morning rush to get out the door haha. Lucas and Ryan watched the Cleveland/Detroit game (Go Tribe!).
The Ohio State game was up next and since football isn’t really my thing, I decided to get Drew and Owen out of the house for a bit. First, we headed to Gallagher’s Farm Market. We actually ended up staying almost two hours! The boys really enjoyed looking at the animals (especially feeding the goats), going through the mini haystack maze, and playing in the sand pit.
When getting ready to leave the farm, Owen said he wanted to do the hike to Cedar Lake. It’s a pretty close drive so we headed to Deyoung Natural Area. Owen found a walking stick someone had leaned up against the trailhead sign so of course he had to use it;) We walked the short trail to the lake.
Cedar Lake is very pretty! You could see the trees starting to change color across the way. It was quite breezy, so the dock was rocking a little. We looked at the water and snapped some pictures.
On the way back there is a half mile loop you can hike through in the woods so naturally Owen said he wanted to do it. He kept pointing out the blue trail markers on the trees (learned that from grandpa). We came across a bench and Owen declared it was a good time to rest. On the very last part of our little hike, he said to me, “Mommy, I am having so much fun. It’s making my belly excited.” Then he turned around, gave me a hug, and said “I love you.” My heart melted.
We headed home and I made some chicken quesadillas for dinner. We had to get the boys to bed relatively early because soccer again in the morning!
Sunday
On Sunday morning, we drove up to Petoskey for Lucas’s travel team. He had two games back-to-back. They won the first game and lost the second game. Poor Lucas had about a dozen shots on net and not one stinking ball went in. However, he played amazingly!! The boy hustled, was aggressive, showed off his foot skills, and you could just tell he was playing with his heart. Gosh, I love watching him do what he is passionate about!
We didn’t get home until almost 3 and we all just wanted to chill the rest of our Sunday. I threw together a quick chicken alfredo pasta for dinner. Ryan and the boys were in bed before 8:30. I stayed up watching Emily in Paris and reading the book I started over the weekend, None of This Is True. It’s got me hooked so I’ll probably include it in my Friday Favorites this week!
If you made it this far have a wonderful week and thank you for reading:)
Sounds like a great weekend!!! Can’t wait for your review on none of this is true! It’s a good one!
