Hello Summer!

Annie June 12, 2024 Comments2

Hi there! Sorry I have been MIA but the past month since my last post has been very busy! This is the first week in a while that I have had some down time to blog. So much has happened since my last post that I thought I would recap mostly with photos. Hopefully I can get back into more consistent blogging this summer. As always, thank you for stopping by:)

Grand Rapids/Holland Weekend Getaway

Mother’s Day weekend we met the McCarthy side of the family in Holland, Michigan for the annual Tulip Festival. Even though the tulips were past bloom, we still enjoyed some quality family time. The boys love being with their cousins!

All the McCarthy cousins!

We also stayed a night in Grand Rapids on the way down to Holland. The boys had a blast swimming and causing shenanigans in the hotel!

Mim & Papa Visit

The following weekend my parents drove up for a visit. Some fun included a carnival at the school, a trip to Ruby Ellen Farm and the first boat ride of the season!

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend included a big job of installing a new slider door. Our friends, Chris and Amy, drove up to enjoy the weekend and help with that project. I did not take many pictures, but we had a great time! Visited breweries, Glen Arbor, and lots of competitive Blokus was played haha.

Hello June

June began the countdown to summer break! The boys got a taste of it with some fishing, boat rides, and swimming!

I made sure to enjoy my last solo days with Owen as he will be in school full time from now on. I shed some tears over that one! Lucas’s class celebrated “Super Day” which I helped out with all day. It also included a family picnic that Drew and Owen were able to attend.

Our Super Friends:)

Grandpa & Grandma Visit

Last weekend, Grandpa and Grandma came up for a visit! They celebrated the last day of school with us. This included a Traverse City Pittspitter’s game followed by fireworks. We also enjoyed Hop Lot, a bonfire, and downtown TC.

Owen’s best bud from school was there and it was so sweet watching them interact with each other. They danced and got so excited about the fireworks. He is really growing up from the shy boy wanting to be around mom all the time to a little extrovert making friends, doing his own thing.

Last weekend we also played our last soccer games at the Leelanau Soccer Club Romp n Stomp. It poured rain all day and we didn’t make it to the finals, but Coach Ryan and I were very proud of the team and all their accomplishments this season.

Awesome season coach and players!

Owen got to play too and earned a pretty cool medal!

Currently…

We have kept things pretty low key this week as we fully immerse ourselves in summer break. The boys have slept in and enjoyed themselves at the lake. On Monday, we took an outing to the playground, Cedar Lake, and Veronica Valley. The boys were excited to find some tadpoles and frogs. Owen also practiced his bike riding without training wheels which he isn’t too thrilled about haha. We’re hoping he will learn this summer though!

Yesterday, Owen caught a big perch all by himself right off the dock! I was just relaxing on our deck and heard “caught a perch mom!” Our neighbor friend also came over for a bit. Later, we met up with some of the soccer players for ice cream which was fun. The boys had a blast trying to get trucks to honk their horns! I’m surprised the Suttons Bay sheriff wasn’t called on us due to all the honking haha.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading! I left a lot of details out, but you get the gist of some of our fun memories this past month:) This weekend we celebrate my birthday and Father’s Day, so I am hoping to recap that for ya on the blog. I also plan to post a roundup of Friday Favorites since I haven’t in a while. Have a wonderful day and happy summer!!
